The question is, when was the last time you ate "ghar ka khana" types food in a restaurant?
No? Can't recollect?
Well, I have recently discovered the answer to this question and also a lipsmacking solution to all my junk food cravings!
Therefore let me introduce you to Central Peninsula, a pure veg restaurant located bang opposite to Sion Circle.
Be it a family dinner or a quick lunch with a colleague, this place seems perfect for its inviting ambience.
Also they boast a plush, mini-banquet upstairs which can accommodate a good number of 80 - 100 guests at once.
When it comes to the food, they've been serving delicious Indian, Chinese, Continental and Italian cuisines with multiple variety of dishes.
We ordered for a 'Pan Fried Paneer' as a part of our starters. This turned out to be the most tender Paneer starter. It's crispy coating on the outside is totally drool-worthy, and tastes heavenly drenched in various Chinese sauces.
We were then recommended to try 'Crispy Corn', a new addition to the restaurant's menu. A fusion of Indo-Chinese ingredients, coated with cornflour and lightly drizzled with a few sauces and vegetables.
Tasted really well and gave a slightly spicy flavor.
The next was Au Gratin, which formed part of the entrée. Well baked, great flavours and a sweetish but creamy texture. The cheesy layer on top was extremely lush and delectable.
Central Peninsula is quite popular for their unbeatable variety of Parathas. So I couldn't resist but went ahead and ordered for a special veg paratha. The Parathas are generally served with Raita or Chana Masala in gravy.
The other one was a chef's speciality, namely 'Corn and mushroom paratha'.
Along with these we had Paneer Koliwada, a thick gravy based dish with rich, finely blended spices and topped with tomatoes and fresh cream.
The aromas of this dish were irresistible and we totally enjoyed having each bite of it.
Apart from food, these good humans at Central Peninsula also serve mocktails made of fresh juice and syrups.
We went ahead and tried 'Shagun' and 'Chocolate Punch'.
My favourite is Shagun, which is a pineapple based juice blended with vanilla Ice cream.
And we finally ended our meal with some delicious desserts like Royal falooda which is a strawberry based drink with falooda and jelly in it.
The other one was a speciality ice cream namely 'Central special Sundae'. This ice cream is truly special, as it has a surprisingly large quantity. More to that, it is topped with cashew nuts and assorted with layers of vanilla, strawberry ice cream, jelly pieces and chocolate syrup.
Totally recommended for its sweet taste and varied flavors.
